Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang was my first project as a compositor.
I got a good mix of shots to work on. There were some simple 2D keying shots, some CG elephant trunk shots and some FX ‘magic snow’ shots.
The toughest thing to get used to in compositing, compared to paint and roto, was the fact that you would have many shots in progress at the same time, rather than just working on one shot until it was done.
We transitioned from Shake to Nuke during the show so there were shots done in each package.
