There aren’t that many VFX podcasts out there so I was interested to see that Ian Failes, of beforesandafters.com, has started a new podcast called VFX Firsts.
It’s an interesting premise, Ian and a guest pick a specific visual effect technique or technology and discuss when they think it was first used in a movie. This leads to conversations about what the technique actually is, how you might define it, when and why it was developed, and then ultimate when they think it was first used in a film.
I’ve listened to the first two episodes, which discussed cloud tanks, and digital compositing. They were both interesting and I’m looking forward to listening to more.
You can get the podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
